Deora Vanshavali
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how information is handled when you use the Deora Vanshavali website and mobile app.
Last updated: October 8, 2026
1. Information we handle
Deora Vanshavali is a shared family directory and genealogy service. Depending on the features you use, information may be entered by you, another family member, or an administrator. This can include names and prefixes, gender, dates of birth, anniversary or death dates, phone numbers, email addresses, profile photos, address and city, education or work details, family relationships (including adoption references), and family events.
When an account is created, we also handle account details such as the phone number used to sign in and authentication information. Passwords are stored as authentication credentials, not displayed as profile information. The service also creates operational records such as approval requests, notifications, and activity logs, and uses essential session cookies to keep a signed-in session secure.
2. How information is used
We use this information to provide and maintain accounts, display family profiles and relationships, support family-tree search, manage events, process profile and relationship changes, route requests for administrator approval, and deliver service notifications. Operational records help administrators review requests and maintain the service's security and integrity.
3. Who can see information
Information in a family directory may be visible to the administrators responsible for that directory and to family members who are allowed to access it. Visibility depends on account approval, role, and the access rules configured for the service. Please share information only when you have permission to do so, especially information or photographs about other people.
We do not sell personal information. We may process or make information available to infrastructure providers that host or operate the service on our behalf, and where required to protect the service, comply with law, or respond to a valid legal request.
4. Mobile banner links and other websites
The mobile app may display banner images managed by an administrator. A banner may include an optional link that opens an external website. Those websites are operated by others and have their own privacy practices; review their policies before sharing information with them. Banner ads are intended for the mobile app and are not displayed on this website.
5. Retention and deletion
We retain account and family-directory information while it is needed to operate the service and preserve the family record, subject to applicable law and administrator decisions. Activity logs and notifications are intended to be retained for up to 30 days. Some operational or backup copies may take additional time to expire.
You can request account deletion from the app's Settings. The request is reviewed by an administrator and does not delete the account immediately. Because a member profile may be part of a shared family tree, deleting a login account and removing a family profile are separate matters; contact the family administrator if you want a profile or information in the shared tree reviewed for removal.
6. Your choices and requests
You can review or update profile information through the app where those controls are available. Some changes require administrator approval. You may also ask your family-tree administrator to help with access, correction, or removal requests for information in the shared directory. We may need to verify the request and consider other members' rights before acting.
7. Security
We use account access controls and secure session mechanisms to help protect information. No online service or method of storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your sign-in details private.
8. Children's information
A family tree may contain information about children supplied by a parent, guardian, or authorized family administrator. The service is not intended for children to create accounts independently. A parent, guardian, or family administrator may contact the family-tree administrator to review or correct a child's information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the service or its data practices change. The current version will be published on this page with its latest update date. Material changes should be communicated through the app where appropriate.
10. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, contact the administrator of your Deora Vanshavali family directory through the contact channel provided by your family organization. The administrator can route your request to the service operator when needed.
